Regular Season Round 17: Nevezis - P.Zvaigzdes 88-87

A very interesting game took place in Kedainiai. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked P.Zvaigzdes (5-11) to ninth ranked Nevezis (5-11) 88-87 in the fight for the seventh place. P.Zvaigzdes was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 29-19 charge of Nevezis, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Point guard Laurynas Beliauskas (192-97) nailed 16 points and 4 assists for the winning side and Greek point guard Georgios Kalaitzakis (202-99) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds. Nevezis' coach Marius Kiltinavicius allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard John Gillon (183-94, college: Syracuse) came up with 21 points and 7 assists and forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 18 points respectively for P.Zvaigzdes in the defeat. Four Nevezis and five P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. Nevezis moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated P.Zvaigzdes. P.Zvaigzdes lost their third game in a row. Nevezis' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Rytas in Vilnius and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
