There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Chiba J. (16-10) crushed at home their close opponent Niigata A. (8-18) 91-66 on Sunday. Chiba J. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata A.'s 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American players dominated also this game. Power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. Forward Nick Perkins (203-96, college: Buffalo) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Niigata A.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba J. maintains fourth position with 16-10 record which they share with defeated Niigata A. Loser Niigata A. keeps the fourth place with 18 games lost. Chiba J. will face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Niigata A. will play on the road against the league's second-placed Osaka E. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
