Regular Season Round 14: Anadolu Efes - Darussafaka 89-83
Date: December 29, 2019
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Anadolu Efes (#1) and Darussafaka (#7). Despite it looked like an easy game for Anadolu Efes, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Darussafaka challenged much higher ranked Anadolu Efes giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by six points 89-83. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. German center Tibor Pleiss (217-89) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Ahmet Tuncer (193-93) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. American-Panamanian guard Doron Lamb (193-91, college: Kentucky) responded with 15 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and American forward Bonzie Colson-Jr (198-96, college: Notre Dame) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anadolu Efes (13-1) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Darussafaka at the other side keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Bursaspor. Anadolu Efes are looking forward to face league's second-placed Pinar Karsiyaka on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Darussafaka will play against Bandirma (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
