Regular Season Round 13: Psychiko - Eleftheroupoli 68-83

There was an upset in Athens where higher ranked Psychiko (7-6) was defeated by tenth ranked Eleftheroupoli (6-7) 83-68 on Saturday. Eleftheroupoli dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Psychiko's 22. It was a great shooting night for Eleftheroupoli especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Serbian guard Nemanja Manojlovic (197-93, agency: Mansfield and Associates) fired 28 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Theodoros Stampoulis (202-91) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Psychiko's coach Giorgos Remendelas let to play ten players saving starting five for next games. Eleftheroupoli moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Koroivos. Loser Psychiko keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Eleftheroupoli will face higher ranked Dafni (#7) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Psychiko will play on the road against Olympiacos B in Pireus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
