Regular Season Round 31: Hiroshima D. - Ibaraki R. 77-75

Third-ranked Ibaraki R. (17-15) was very close to win a game against first ranked Dragonflies (27-5) in Hiroshima on Saturday. Dragonflies managed to secure only two-point victory 77-75. However their fans expected easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Josei Maniwa (193-86) answered with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Ibaraki R.Five Dragonflies and four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Dragonflies have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 27-5 record. Ibaraki R. at the other side keeps the third position with 15 games lost. They share it with Ehime OV. Dragonflies are again looking forward to face Ibaraki R. (#3) in Tsukuba in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ibaraki R. will have a break next round.
