Regular Season Round 25: Telsiai - Jonava 88-80

NKL top team - Telsiai (21-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Jonava (6-17) in Telsiu 88-80. Telsiai made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Telsiai outrebounded Jonava 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Jonava's players. Jonava was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Mindaugas Norkus (200-85) stepped up and scored 31 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and point guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. At the losing side the former international forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85, agency: Agency) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Stanley Whittaker (183, college: Keiser) scored 20 points. Five Jonava players scored in double figures. Telsiai have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-2 record. Jonava at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Taurages. Telsiai will play against Zalgiris II (#6) in Kaunas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Jonava will play at home against Silute (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
