Regular Season Round 27: Nagoya DD - Kyoto H. 61-91

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Diamond Dolphins (11-16) against fourth ranked Kyoto H. (11-16) on Saturday night. Host Diamond Dolphins were crushed by Kyoto H. in Nagoya 91-61. Kyoto H. outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 48-25 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Kyoto H. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. Four Kyoto H. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Taito Nakahigashi (190-92) who recorded 14 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kyoto H.. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Diamond Dolphins. Diamond Dolphins lost their seventh game in a row. Kyoto H. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Diamond Dolphins will play again against Kyoto H. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
