The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Girona Basquet (13-3) in Las Palmas on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Gran Canaria II (7-9) 86-76. Gran Canaria II outrebounded Girona Basquet 41-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin swingman Jovan Kljajic (198-1) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. Dominican guard Jean Montero (189-3) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Gran Canaria II players scored in double figures. Forward Gerard Sevillano (196-94, agency: Interperformances) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and forward Maxim Esteban (201-98) added 13 points in the effort for Girona Basquet. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria II moved-up to eighth place in Silver. Girona Basquet at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Gran Canaria II are looking forward to face higher ranked L'Hospitalet (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Girona Basquet will play against Villarrobledo (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
