Regular Season Round 27: Hitachi SRT - Yokohama BC 87-66
Date: January 4, 2020
Not a big story in a game in Tokyo where 5th ranked Yokohama BC (7-19) was rolled over by third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (18-9) 87-66 on Saturday. Hitachi Sunrockers made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game, while Yokohama BC only scored five points from the stripe. Hitachi Sunrockers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) helped adding 28 points. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Ryo Tawatari (180-93, college: Dominican, CA) with 7 points and 7 assists and American forward James Southerland (203-90, college: Syracuse) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain third place with 18-9 record having six points less than leader Tochigi B. Yokohama BC lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 19 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face again Yokohama BC (#5) at home in the next round.
