There was no surprise in Thessaloniki where 12th ranked Anatolia (4-9) was defeated by third ranked Diagoras D. (11-2) 90-80 on Saturday. Diagoras D. made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) fired 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Vaggelis Karaboulas (198-81) chipped in 21 points. Serbian Uros Duvnjak (190-86, agency: Interperformances) produced 23 points and 4 assists and guard Angelos Gatzias (192-94) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Anatolia's coach Petros Gaitatzis let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Diagoras D.. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Anatolia keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. Diagoras D.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Pagrati.
