Regular Season Round 18: Besancon - Avignon/Pontet 68-82

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Besancon (6-12) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Avignon/Pontet (11-7) 82-68 on Saturday. Besancon was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Ishmael Donzo (201-95, college: East Central) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Geoffrey Bourcier (182-88) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Eliot Maraux (184-96) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and Swiss Nicolas Dos-Santos (200-87) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Avignon/Pontet and five Besancon players scored in double figures. Avignon/Pontet have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Andrezieux and La Charite. Loser Besancon keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Avignon/Pontet will face league's leader C'Chartres at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Besancon will play against Andrezieux (#5) and hope to win that game.
