Regular Season Round 12: Grindavik - KR 91-94 OT

Grindavik (#9) forced the game against KR (#5) into an overtime, but lost by three points 91-94 on Sunday night. The game took place in Grindavik. But the guests from Reykjavik were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Grindavik won third quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Grindavik used huge pressure winning it 16-13 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 12-15. KR looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Brynjar Bjornsson (188-88, college: Francis Marion) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU, agency: Inception Sports) who added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five KR players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds and guard Ingvi Gudmundsson (193-98, college: St.Louis) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 7-4 record. Loser Grindavik dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Thor Thorl. KR will meet Haukar (#6) in the next round. Grindavik will play against the league's second-placed Keflavik and hope to secure a win.
