Rather expected game when 8th ranked UBSC Graz (3-13) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (9-8) 85-69 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Raiffeisen Flyers Wels. UBSC Graz was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels outrebounded UBSC Graz 43-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Benjamin Blazevic (204-95) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds. American point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St.) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Four Raiffeisen Flyers Wels players scored in double figures. American guard Anton Beard (183-96, college: Arkansas) produced 24 points and 5 assists and Croatian Marko Car (188-85) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels maintains sixth place with 9-8 record. UBSC Graz lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels will face higher ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
