Regular Season Round 76: Toronto R. - Portland TB 99-101

Date: January 7, 2020
The most exciting game of day 76 in the NBA took place in Toronto. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked Raptors (24-13) to fourth ranked Trail Blazers (16-22) 101-99 on Tuesday evening. Strangely Raptors outrebounded Trail Blazers 57-45 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Trail Blazers made 11 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Carmelo Anthony (203-84, college: Syracuse) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 7 rebounds. Center Hassan Whiteside (213-89, college: Marshall) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 blocks for the winners. Point guard Kyle Lowry (183-86, college: Villanova) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 assists and Congolese-Spanish power forward Serge Ibaka (208-89) added 17 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Raptors. Five Trail Blazers and four Raptors players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Trail Blazers moved-up to third place, which they share with Memphis G. Defending champion Raptors keep the second position with 13 games lost. Trail Blazers will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raptors will play on the road against Hornets in Charlotte and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
