Regular Season Round 19: Lietkabelis - Neptunas 102-64

The game between Top Four teams took place in Panevezys. Third ranked host Lietkabelis (12-6) smashed 4th placed Neptunas (10-8) 102-64. The game without a history. Lietkabelis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas' 32. They outrebounded Neptunas 38-16 including a 28-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lietkabelis players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Martynas Sajus (208-96) who led the winners and scored 24 points (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-88, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. The former international guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) came up with 8 points and Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) added 10 points respectively for Neptunas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietkabelis moved-up to second place, which they share with Rytas. Neptunas at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Lietkabelis will play against Juventus (#4) in Utena in the next round. Neptunas will play on the road against Rytas in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
