Regular Season Round 10: Khimik - Dnipro 101-91

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Dnipro (12-3) in Yuzhny on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Khimik (11-5) 101-91. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Dnipro. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Dnipro managed to win second period 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik forced 19 Dnipro turnovers. Strangely Dnipro outrebounded Khimik 39-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. 28 personal fouls committed by Dnipro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Lewis Sullivan (201-95, college: UAB) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Isaiah Williams (188-95, college: Georgia St.) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists during the contest. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side point guard Henry Dugat (183-87, college: Baylor) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Jared Terrell (190-95, college: URI) scored 23 points. Five Khimik and four Dnipro players scored in double figures. Dnipro's coach Denys Zhuravlov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Khimik have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Prometey. Dnipro at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Khimik is looking forward to face Odessa (#6) on the road in the next round. Dnipro will play against Cherkasy (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
