We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 13th ranked San Severo (5-12) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked Orzinuovi (4-13) 89-83 on Sunday. Orzinuovi made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Orzinuovi outrebounded San Severo 43-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. American point guard Anthony Miles (185-89, college: Lamar, agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 assists. Nigerian forward Christian Mekowulu (206-95, college: Texas A&M) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Mekowulu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Orzinuovi's coach Stefano Salieri used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international point guard Marco Spanghero (186-91) answered with 20 points and 4 assists and Nigerian forward Andy Ogide (204-87, college: Colorado St., agency: HMS) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for San Severo. Five Orzinuovi and four San Severo players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Orzinuovi maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 4-13 record. San Severo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Orzinuovi will face higher ranked Tezenis VER (#6) in Verona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
