Very important is a road loss of third ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas (5-3) against tenth ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (2-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Alab Pilipinas were crushed by Singapore Slingers in Singapore 85-64. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Singapore Slingers made 11 blocks. American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) fired a triple-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists and 8 steals for the winners. His fellow American import center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 7 blocks. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (225-91) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Nick King (201-95, college: MTSU) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Singapore Slingers moved-up to ninth place. Defending Filipino champion Alab Pilipinas keep the third position with three games lost. Singapore Slingers will meet higher ranked Macau (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alab Pilipinas will have a break next round.
