Regular Season Round 24: Norrkoping - Jamtland 67-89

Date: January 13, 2020
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Norrkoping Dolphins (8-14) were crushed at home by seventh ranked KFUM Jamtland (8-14) 89-67. It looked good early as Norrkoping Dolphins took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then KFUM Jamtland had a 26-23 second period charge getting the lead and Norrkoping Dolphins were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-89. KFUM Jamtland dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Norrkoping Dolphins' 30. They outrebounded Norrkoping Dolphins 45-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward RT Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import forward Wayne Martin (201-93, college: Tennessee St.) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international Anton Saks (201-89, agency: Interperformances) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Tyre Gathright (193-96, college: St.Augustine) added 17 points in the effort for Norrkoping Dolphins. Norrkoping Dolphins' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. KFUM Jamtland moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Norrkoping. KFUM Jamtland will play against league's second-placed Boras Basket at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Norrkoping Dolphins will play against BC Lulea (#3) and hope to get back on the winning track.
