Regular Season Round 29: Tochigi B. - Hitachi SRT 84-88

An interesting game for Hitachi Sunrockers (20-9) which played road game in Tochigi against leader Tochigi B. (23-6). Third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers managed to get a 4-point victory 88-84. Hitachi Sunrockers shot 61.8 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Tochigi B. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and naturalized American forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Tochigi B. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain third place with 20-9 record having five points less than leader Tochigi B. Tochigi B. at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Toyota Alvark.
