Regular Season Round 8: Zhuhai - Saigon H. 95-103

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Chinese Zhuhai (4-7) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (3-4) 103-95. Strangely Zhuhai outrebounded Saigon Heat 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The winners were led by guard Torian Graham (196-93, college: ASU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and forward Sam Thompson (201-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Saigon Heat's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 25 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Steven Thomas (204-81, college: MTSU) did not help to save the game for Zhuhai. Forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saigon Heat maintains eighth position with 3-4 record, which they share with Singapore S. Zhuhai at the other side dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Saigon Heat's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Hong Kong ELL (#10) on the road.
