Regular Season Round 13: Al Sadd - Al Rayyan 89-99

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#5) and Al Sadd (#9). Al Sadd was defeated at home 89-99 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Rayyan made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Eric Lockett (196, college: NC State) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Mohamed Hasan-Mohamed (191-91) chipped in 22 points and 7 assists. Lockett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Rayyan's coach Erik Rashad allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard JuanYa Green (188-92, college: Hofstra, agency: 3Eye) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward Babacar Dieng (198-97) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Al Rayyan maintains fifth place with 7-5 record. Al Sadd at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Qatar Sports Club.
