The game in Galway was also quite interesting. Second ranked Belfast Star (11-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Maree (6-9). Belfast Star did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 76-59 on Saturday. The former international guard Aidan Quinn (185-95, college: Mayville St.) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Keelan Cairns (211-92, college: Pennsylvania) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Belfast Star players scored in double figures. American guard Darin Johnson (196-95, college: CSUN) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Paul Freeman (201-83) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Belfast Star have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tralee. Loser Maree keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. Belfast Star will face Moycullen (#11) in Galway in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maree will play on the road against UCD Marian in Dublin and hope to win that game.
