Regular Season Round 18: Breakers - United 90-68

Another exciting game was played in Auckland between seventh ranked New Zealand Breakers and 4th ranked United where host New Zealand Breakers (11-12) rolled over United (11-11) with 22-point difference 90-68. New Zealand Breakers shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 9 rebounds. New Zealand forward Finn Delany (198-95, college: SW Baptist) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. American forward Shawn Long (208-93, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 18 points and his fellow American import guard Melo Trimble (190-95, college: Maryland) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for United. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. New Zealand Breakers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 36ers. United at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Bullets. New Zealand Breakers will play against league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. United will play against the league's leader Kings in Sydney and hopes to get back on the winning track.
