Regular Season Round 89: Atlanta H. - Toronto R. 117-122

Date: January 20, 2020
Rather predictable result in Atlanta where first ranked Raptors (29-14) beat 5th ranked Hawks (10-34) 122-117 on Monday. Raptors made 33-of-43 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Hawks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Hawks were plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Norman Powell (193-93, college: UCLA) who scored 27 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Point guard Fred VanVleet (183-94, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 20 points. Guard Trae Young (188-98, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 15 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands-American John Collins (208-97, college: Wake Forest) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Raptors and four Hawks players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Raptors have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 29-14 record, which they share with Utah Jazz. Loser Hawks keep the fifth position with 34 games lost.
