Regular Season Round 30: Hitachi SRT - Alvark T. 78-79

A very interesting game took place in Tokyo. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (20-10) to second ranked Toyota Alvark (23-7) 79-78 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. They outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 48-32 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyota Alvark players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending champion used an opportunity after Tochigi B. lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the third place with ten games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be Toyama G. (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and hope to win that game.
