Regular Season Round 17: Spartak Pleven - Academic 86-87

The most exciting game of round 17 in the NBL took place in Pleven. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 8th ranked Spartak Pleven (3-14) to seventh ranked Academic (7-10) 87-86 on Thursday evening. Academic looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Aleksandar Milov (198-95) who scored 31 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Nikolay Nikolov (196-94) chipped in 19 points. Power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) produced 32 points and the former international Martin Marinov (191-85) added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Academic moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cherno More and Akademik Bultex. Spartak Pleven lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. Academic is looking forward to face Chernomorets (#8) in Burgas in the next round. Spartak Pleven will play on the road against the league's leader Balkan in Botevgrad and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
