Regular Season Round 93: Minnesota T. - Houston R. 124-131

Date: January 24, 2020
Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Timberwolves (15-30) lost to second ranked Rockets (28-16) in Minnesota 124-131 on Friday. Rockets made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Timberwolves outrebounded Rockets 52-34 including 39 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rockets made 9 blocks. Timberwolves were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for point guard Russell Westbrook (190-88, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 10 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Eric Gordon (193-88, college: Indiana) contributed with 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Dominican-American power forward Karl-Anthony Towns (213-95, college: Kentucky) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and Canadian guard Andrew Wiggins (203-95, college: Kansas) added 28 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Timberwolves. Five Rockets and four Timberwolves players scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rockets keep a position of league leader, which they share with Dallas M. Timberwolves lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the fifth place with 30 games lost. Rockets will have a break next day. Timberwolves will play at home against Thunder (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
