Regular Season Round 17: Tabirako - La Fecha 67-74

Rather predictable result in Durango where seventh ranked La Fecha (9-7) defeated bottom-ranked Tabirako (7-9) 74-67 on Saturday. Tabirako was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Jorge Martinez (185-96) stepped up and scored 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and center Hector Parras (198-89) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. La Fecha's coach Roberto Gonzalez used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Markel Mendive (174-99) responded with 18 points and center Aitor Calle (-93) scored 15 points. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for La Fecha. They maintain seventh place in Group A-A with 9-7 record, which they share with Baskonia. Newly promoted Tabirako stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. La Fecha will face higher ranked Nissan Burgos (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tabirako will play against Arha Hoteles (#5) in Santander and hope to win that game.
