Regular Season Round 19: Zornotza - UBU Tizona 93-72

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked UBU Tizona (13-6) in Amorebieta-Echano on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by twelfth ranked Zornotza (6-13) 93-72. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Zornotza outrebounded UBU Tizona 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jimond Ivey (196-96, college: Akron) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 assists. Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-95, college: Jefferson) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Alberto Ruiz-de-Galarreta (198-83) answered with 22 points and swingman Ivan Martinez (192-90) added 13 points and 5 steals in the effort for UBU Tizona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UBU Tizona's coach Jose Luis Cubillo gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Zornotza maintains twelfth place in Silver with 6-13 record. Newly promoted UBU Tizona still keeps top position with six games lost. Zornotza are looking forward to face higher ranked Cocinas.com (#5) in Logrono in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UBU Tizona will play at home against Marbella (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
