The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (12-5) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked SSV Lok Bernau (10-7) 68-67. American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valpo) saved the victory by scoring 12 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Evans Rapieque (193-2) contributed with 13 points for the winners. SSV Lok Bernau's coach Rene Schilling used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Bulgarian guard Milen Zahariev (190-92) answered with 19 points and American guard Montrael Scott (190-93, college: PVAMU) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for SG Schwelmer Baskets. Four SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. SSV Lok Bernau maintains third place in North with 10-7 record having five points less than leader Elchingen, which they share with Muenster and BSW Sixers. SG Schwelmer Baskets at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost. They share it with Itzehoe. SSV Lok Bernau is looking forward to face SC Rist Wedel (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play against Titans (#6) in Dresden and are hoping to win this game.
