Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Vivo/Franca (#3) and Paulistano (#9). Paulistano was defeated at home 72-85 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Vivo/Franca made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Argentinian Leonel Schattmann (193-87) chipped in 21 points. At the other side the best for losing team was center Dikembe Andre (206-99) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and international point guard Yago Santos (178-99) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vivo/Franca maintains third position with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Flamengo. Loser Paulistano keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. Vivo/Franca will face Mogi (#5) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round.
