Regular Season Round 16: Nantes - Gries/Oberhoffen 73-75

A very interesting game took place in Nantes. It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked Nantes (10-7) to thirteenth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (7-10) 75-73 on Saturday evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Nantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Kevin Dinal (202-93) who scored that evening 20 points and 8 rebounds and Spanish point guard Josep Franch (193-91) supported him with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Gries/Oberhoffen players scored in double figures. Gries/Oberhoffen's coach Ludovic Pouillart allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) did not help to save the game for Nantes. Tunisian Mourad El-Mabrouk (194-86) added 18 points for lost side. Gries/Oberhoffen maintains thirteenth position with 7-10 record, which they share with Evreux. Nantes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Gries/Oberhoffen's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Poitiers (#18) at home where they are favorite. Nantes will play against JA Vichy (#11) and hope to win that game.
