There was an upset when second-best Matera (15-4) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Valmontone (9-9) 75-66 on Sunday. Valmontone made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Matera was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Luca Bisconti (208-82, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds. Matteo Carida (188-95) chipped in 11 points. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Valerio Staffieri (196-92) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian center Marcelo Dip (205-84) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Valmontone moved-up to seventh place in B, which they share with Vigevano. Loser Matera keeps the second position with four games lost. Valmontone will face Roma SAzzurra (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Matera will play against Nardo (#5) and hope to win that game.
