Not a big story in a game in Ankara where 12th ranked Afyon Bld (6-11) was defeated by ninth ranked Turk Telekom (8-9) 92-83 on Sunday. Turk Telekom looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American guard Nick Johnson (191-92, college: Arizona) stepped up and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and French center Moustapha Fall (218-92) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Nigerian power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Gani-Erdi Gulaslan (202-94) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Five Afyon Bld players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turk Telekom moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Besiktas. Loser Afyon Bld keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Turk Telekom will face higher ranked Fenerbahce (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Afyon Bld will play at home against Acibadem (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
