Regular Season Round 36: Tokyo Z - FE Nagoya 71-74

Sixth-ranked Tokyo Z (9-27) made lots of trouble for third ranked FE Nagoya (19-17) on Sunday. The visitors from Nagoya managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected easier game. FE Nagoya made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Tokyo Z helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU, agency: Wasserman) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Hiroaki Tobita (187-90) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kyle Casey (201-90, college: Harvard) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds and Nigerian-American center Nnanna Egwu (211-92, college: Illinois) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. FE Nagoya maintains third position with 19-17 record having seven points less than leader Shinshu BW. Tokyo Z lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 27 games lost. FE Nagoya are looking forward to face league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Z will play on the road against the league's leader Shinshu BW (#1) in Nagano and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
