Regular Season Round 17: M.Haifa - H.Jerusalem 95-87

The most important game in the last round took place in Haifa between second ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (13-3) and sixth ranked Maccabi Haifa (9-8) on Sunday night. Hapoel Jerusalem was defeated by Maccabi Haifa in a tough game on the road 87-95. Maccabi Haifa made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Hapoel Jerusalem turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 assists and American swingman James Young (198-95, college: Kentucky) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) during the contest. At the losing side Nigerian power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice, agency: 3Eye) responded with 27 points and American forward Tashawn Thomas (203-93, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Maccabi Haifa and four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa moved-up to fifth place. Hapoel Jerusalem at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Maccabi Haifa are looking forward to face Galil Gilboa (#8) in Rosh Pina in the next round. Hapoel Jerusalem will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
