Second Stage Round 9: Tartu - Runa 91-47

The game between ninth ranked Estonian Tartu (6-4) and 18th ranked Russian Runa (3-7) in Tartu on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Tartu outscored guests from Moscow 91-47. Tartu dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Runa's 20 and made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Tartu forced 22 Runa turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Runa's players. Swingman Aleksander Tassa (192-4) nailed 13 points for the winning side and Kaspar Sepp (-3) accounted for 6 points and 12 rebounds. Vladislav Karasev (-4) came up with 9 points and 12 rebounds and Daniil Melnikov (-3) added 9 points respectively for Runa in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tartu. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Belgorod and VKM Hoover. Loser Runa keeps the eighteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Russia 2004 and VKM-Tekno.
