Regular Season Round 10: Singapore S. - Saigon H. 101-67

Date: January 29, 2020
Eighth ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (5-5) crushed at home 10th ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (2-7) by 34 points 101-67, which is the biggest margin this round on Wednesday night. Singapore Slingers outrebounded Saigon Heat 56-33 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Singapore Slingers made 7 blocks. American center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) chipped in 29 points. Five Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. American forward Sam Thompson (201-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and American-Bahrain power forward Malcolm White (205-88, college: LSU) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Singapore Slingers moved-up to seventh place. Loser Saigon Heat stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Singapore Slingers will meet higher ranked Alab Pilipinas (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Saigon Heat will play against WM Dragons (#6) in Kuala Lumpur and hope to secure a win.
