Everything went according to plan in Santa Fe where third ranked Union SF (15-8) outscored 5th ranked Independiente (10-12) 103-70 on Friday. They outrebounded Independiente 40-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Union SF shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Independiente was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Andres Jaime (184-0) scored 18 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Diego Garcia (190-79) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Jeronimo Solorzano (196-88) responded with 21 points and point guard Victor Cajal (179-80) scored 7 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Union SF maintains third position in Liga Argentina with 15-8 record having just one point less than leader Estudiantes O. Loser Independiente keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost. Union SF will face league's leader Ameghino in Villa Maria in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Independiente will play at home against the league's second-placed San Isidro (#2) and hope to win that game.
