Regular Season Round 18: Alcala - Pozuelo 83-70

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Alcala (10-8) defeated at home 14th ranked Pozuelo (5-13) 83-70 on Saturday. They outrebounded Pozuelo 48-31 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pozuelo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Juan-Gabriel Martinez (198-93) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Fidel Gomez (197-99) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Alberto Arias (188-89) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Jose Galocha (185-88) added 13 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alcala have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Azuqueca. Loser Pozuelo keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Alcala will face Aguimes (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pozuelo will play against Tobarra and hope to win that game.
