Regular Season Round 18: Sopron KC - Kaposvari 101-96

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Sopron KC (7-11) defeated at home 10th ranked Kaposvari (7-12) 101-96 on Saturday. Sopron KC made 37-of-48 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while Kaposvari only scored twenty points from the stripe. Strangely Kaposvari outrebounded Sopron KC 48-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Kaposvari was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian Tauras Jogela (202-93, agency: 011 Sports) scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Bernard Thompson (191-93, college: FGCU) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Julian Norfleet (188-91, college: Mt.St.Mary's) with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Croatian center Jure Lalic (211-86) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sopron KC moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Kaposvari dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Sopron KC will face higher ranked Oroszlany (#9) in Oraszlany in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kaposvari will play at home against Szolnok and hope to win that game.
