Regular Season Round 22: Vitre - Lorient 78-67

Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Lorient (6-16) lost on the road to ninth ranked Vitre (10-12) 78-67 on Saturday. Vitre dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lorient's 30. Vitre forced 20 Lorient turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Jamaican center Travis Elliott (203-91, college: Beth.-Cookman) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Serbian power forward Luka Nikolic (209-94) replied with 19 points and Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lorient. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vitre moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with Bordeaux and Dax-Gamarde. Lorient lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Vitre will face league's second-placed Tours on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lorient will play against Vendee Challans (#6) and hope to win that game.
