Regular Season Round 39: Yamagata - Koshigaya A. 80-81

Sixth-ranked Yamagata (8-31) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Koshigaya A. (14-25). The visitors from Tokyo managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected easier game. Koshigaya A. players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for guard Charles Hinkle (198-88, college: American) who saved his team from a defeat with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Andrew Naymick (209-85, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Koshigaya A.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Stephen Hurt (211-93, college: Kansas St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: Oklahoma St.) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Yamagata. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Koshigaya A. maintains fifth place with 14-25 record, which they share with Kumamoto V. Yamagata lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 31 games lost. Koshigaya A. will play against league's leader Sendai 89ers at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamagata will play against the league's leader Shinshu BW (#1) in Nagano and hopes to get back on the winning track.
