Regular Season Round 23: Lorient - Challans 74-58

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Lorient (7-16) beat at home higher ranked Vendee Challans (11-11) 74-58 on Tuesday. They outrebounded Vendee Challans 42-29 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lorient looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Vendee Challans was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Serbian power forward Luka Nikolic (209-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) helped adding 9 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Paul Turpin (190-93) responded with 14 points and 6 assists and center Jeremie Douillet (205-91) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Vendee Challans' coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lorient moved-up to twelfth place in Group A, which they share with Lourdes. Loser Vendee Challans keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Lorient will face higher ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (#3) in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
