Regular Season Round 19: Apollon - AEL 81-67

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Limassol: Apollon (#3) and AEL (#8). Apollon (12-5) won against visiting AEL (4-13) 81-67. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-67. Apollon dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to AEL's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Aundre Jackson (196-95, college: Loyola, IL) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Malik Hines (208-96, college: McNeese St.) helped adding 16 points. At the losing side power forward KenDarrius Hamilton (206-96, college: Tennessee St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Jaylin Walker (185-97, college: Kent St.) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Apollon maintains third place with 12-5 record having just two points less than leader Keravnos. AEL at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Apollon are looking forward to face bottom-ranked APOP (#9) in Paphou in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AEL will play at home against E.N. Paralimni and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
