Regular Season Round 18: Thor AK - Njardvik 94-97

Tenth-ranked Thor AK (5-13) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Njardvik (11-7) in Akureyri on Friday. The visitors from Njardvik managed to secure only three-point victory 97-94. However their fans expected much easier game. Thor AK was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Njardvik, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Chaz Williams (175-91, college: UMass, agency: Green Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists. Croatian forward Mario Matasovic (203-93, college: Sacred Heart) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: SHSU, agency: Players Group) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Julius Agustsson (190-1) added 19 points respectively. Five Njardvik and four Thor AK players scored in double figures. Njardvik moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Haukar and KR. Thor AK lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Njardvik will face KR (#5) in Reykjavik in the next round. Thor AK will play on the road against the league's leader Stjarnan (#1) and hope to win that game.
