Regular Season Round 19: Matenglish - Adepla 80-79

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Matenglish (2-13) edged 7th ranked Adepla (5-10) in San Fernando 80-79 on Saturday. Adepla was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for DR Congolese forward Steve Kuminga (198-96, college: Cent.Christian) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jaime Macias (190-93) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Matenglish's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Christian Segui (191-0) answered with 25 points and 5 assists and American power forward Ernest Maize (203-94, college: Philander Smith) added 16 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Adepla. Matenglish maintains ninth place in Group D-B with 2-13 record. Adepla lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Matenglish will face league's second-placed Huelva on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
