Very predictable result in Boulogne-sur-Mer where third ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (17-7) beat 12th ranked Lorient (7-17) 72-67 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. SO Maritime Boulogne outrebounded Lorient 41-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was center Adolphe-Michel Jean-Baptiste (206-79) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Naturalized American forward Marc Gosselin (200-96, college: W.Carolina, agency: Duran International) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) who recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Luka Nikolic (209-94) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. SO Maritime Boulogne have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Tours and Le Havre. Loser Lorient dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face Vendee Challans (#6) on the road in the next round. Lorient will play against STB Le Havre (#4) and hope to win that game.
