Regular Season Round 24: Vitre - Challans 85-88
Date: February 8, 2020
A very interesting game took place in Vitre. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Vitre (11-13) to sixth ranked Vendee Challans (12-11) 88-85 in the fight for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vitre. Strangely Vitre outrebounded Vendee Challans 46-29 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Paul Turpin (190-93) who scored that evening 44 points (!!!) and Guinean forward Cheick-Sekou Conde (203-92) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Even 40 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Robert Turner (188-93, college: Texas Tech) did not help to save the game for Vitre. Point guard Louis Prolhac (175-91) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Vendee Challans maintains sixth position in Group A with 12-11 record. Vitre at the other side keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Vendee Challans' next round opponent will be league's second-placed SO Maritime Boulogne in Boulogne-sur-Mer and it may be quite challenging game. Vitre will play on the road against Dax-Gamarde (#9) in Gamarde les Bains and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
